Bellows-Nichols Agency and Co-operative Insurance Companies recently presented a $2,000 grant to Monadnock Area Transitional Shelter (MATS).
The gift, awarded as part of Co-op’s Community Grants Program, will be used toward increasing costs of electricity and heating oil for the two buildings MATS uses to assist individuals and families who are homeless.
“Once again, MATS wants to thank Bellows-Nichols and Co-operative Insurance Companies for the generous gift,” stated Ernie Belletete, MATS’s board president. “MATS appreciates the continued support from the local business community and citizens of the Monadnock region.”
MATS was founded in 1991 and provides transitional shelter, support and referral services to people experiencing homelessness in the Monadnock region.
“MATS fills a critical need in our region,” stated Tim McMahon of Bellows-Nichols. “We’re proud to support their efforts. Bellows-Nichols employees also supported this contribution through our Blue Jeans Friday Charitable Giving program.”
Co-operative Insurance Companies’ Community Grants Program was established in 2004 to assist with community projects across Vermont and New Hampshire. Through this program, Co-op partners with its agents and directors to provide funds for capital campaigns and operational support throughout the two states.
“Groups like MATS are meeting needs in the same communities that Co-op serves,” stated Randy Roy, Co-op’s senior vice president of marketing. “We think it’s important to do our part as neighbors to help them out, and this grant program is one more way we can do that.”
MATS was one of 11 to receive a Community Grant from Co-operative Insurance Companies in 2023. Co-op has headquarters in Middlebury, Vt., with regional claims offices and more than 100 agency locations across Vermont and New Hampshire.
Bellows-Nichols Agency has offices in Peterborough, Hancock and Antrim and has represented Co-Operative Insurance since 2010.
