Bennington voters said no to bringing the lottery game Keno to town during Tuesday’s voting, with 134 no votes and 105 voting to allow the game. Harris Mini Mart on Route 202 was hoping to offer Keno at the convenience store, and state law requires individual towns to vote whether or not to adopt the game town-wide.

At the election, 247 votes were cast with a 26 percent turnout at the election, including six new voters.

All other articles on the ballot passed including raising $679,862 to go towards a five year lease agreement to buy a new firetruck, 135-103, and all articles asking to raise and appropriate money for nonprofit organizations that offer support to Bennington residents: Contoocook Housing Trust, Community Volunteer Transportation Company, The Grapevine, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Child Advocacy Center (CAC), End 68 Hours of Hunger, American Red Cross, Hundred Nights Shelter and Cornucopia Project.

The proposed operating budget of $1,831,805 passed 179-58, which was lower than the default budget due to an administrative error.

Toni Parisi overturned Select Board incumbent David Foster 116-110 for a three-year seat.

Dennis McKenney beat Jonathan Charlonne 110-104 for a three-year Water and Sewer Commissioner position.

There was no name on the ballot for a three-year Zoning Board of Adjustment member, but there were a number of write-ins. Kristie LaPlante received the most votes (13) with David Hardwick coming in second with 6 and Scott Liljeberg with 3.

Corey Lawrence won a three-year Planning Board seat as the only candidate on the ballot. Two seats were open and Jon Manley and David Hardwick both received two write-in votes.
