Bicyclist seriously injured in Route 101 crash

A bicyclist hit by a vehicle on Route 101 in Wilton Tuesday night sustained serious injuries.

On Tuesday at 5:44 p.m., police responded to Route 101, also known as Gibbons Highway, near the intersection of Abbot Hill Acres Road, for a report of a collision between a vehicle and a bicyclist, according to a press release issued by the Nashua Police Department on Wednesday.

Police did not release the names of either the driver of the vehicle or the bicyclist.

The bicyclist, an adult man, sustained “serious bodily injury” according to the release, and was taken to a Boston area hospital for treatment. 

The driver of the vehicle, also an adult man, was uninjured.

The crash is being investigated with assistance from the Nashua Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit, with officers of the unit investigating the scene for several hours following the crash. At this time, police do not believe alcohol was a factor.

The Nashua Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is asking anyone that may have witnessed the crash to contact Sgt. Matthew Allen at 594-3630 or Sgt. Caleb Gilbert at  589-1624.
