The ConVal-Conant Griffins overcame a slow start against Sanborn to get their third win of the season.

Sanborn came out flying in the first period, outshooting the Griffins 15-5 and applied nearly all the offense before Liam Dolan scored with 11 seconds left to give the Indians the early lead.

“Senior goalie Chance Kirby kept us in the game and gave us a chance to establish some confidence and tilt the ice in the other direction,” said head coach Mark Leger.

The Griffins made some adjustments and started the second with all the pressure and knotted the game at one with a goal from sophomore center Trevor Johnson assisted by Kyle Eaves and Cam Tracy.

The tie carried over to the third period until Cam Tracy netted a nice goal assisted by Luca Haufler. C-C extended the lead when Haufler scored with a great setup from Palmer Timmons and Matt Kolk.

Junior Aidan Kirby finished the scoring with an empty-netter with just under one minute remaining to finalize the Griffins 4-1 win. Chance Kirby earned his first win as a Griffin stopping 39 of 40 shots.

“It was great to see the boys make the necessary adjustments to turn a slow start into a win,” Leger said.

ConVal-Conant (2-6) travels to Monadnock (2-6) for a game at Keene Ice Wednesday at 6:10 p.m.
