Greg and Alyssa Tandy were married Sept. 29, 2019 at the New London Historical Society. Alyssa shared a bit about what went into planning their special day:
What was the best part of your wedding?
Seeing 15 months of wedding plans coming together and getting to relax and celebrate our marriage with each other, friends, and family.
What was the most fun part of your planning?
Deciding on a wedding theme that fits both of our personalities and reflects on our relationship as a whole.
What was the most difficult part of planning?
Staying within our budget, while not giving up on our hopes and dreams for our special day.
Did you plan your own wedding or hire a wedding planner?
We planned every aspect of our wedding!
Who else was involved in your wedding planning?
Greg, myself, and Pinterest.
What was a unique feature of your wedding?
Touches of Jack Daniels Whiskey throughout our rustic barn wedding; due to this being our favorite drink.
Did you partake in any special wedding traditions?
We wrote our own vows and exchanged rings. Instead of rice; we had guests blow bubbles for the recessional.
Did anything not go according to plan?
One of the workers were not able to come, so our DJ ended up clearing tables. He was amazing!
Did you have to go to any “plan B” from your original vision?
Yes, we had to be more realistic due to budget restraints.
If you had to do it again, would you change anything?
Had a more reliable worker to help with cleanup, but otherwise the day was perfect!
How long did it take you to plan your wedding?
15 long months.
Do you have any vendor recommendations?
Our DJ and photobooth from 802 Events! They were absolutely amazing; coordinating our ceremony and reception! Kyle Cioffi Photography: his team was everywhere, catching all of the perfect moments. Also, shoutout to The Smokeshow BBQ in Concord, for delicious food! We would also recommend communicating often about what to expect with the event rental company that provides dishes and linens.
Anything else?
Having a videographer was a great experience and allows us to look back at moments that we might have missed and enjoy our special day over and over again!
Our DJ had everyone gather outside for a sparkler send-off; which allowed us to have a private last dance and enjoy a special moment together. Our bridal party and immediate families were a huge support before and during the wedding!
Ultimately, you want your day to reflect on the relationship that you both share with each other and your ideal wedding day, but also truly understanding that this is a one-day celebration to begin the rest of your lives together.
