Community Volunteer Transportation Company (CVTC) recently received three grant awards: $3,648 from Agnes M. Lindsay Trust, $7,400 from Cogswell Benevolent Trust and $4,800 from Madelaine G. von Weber Trust.

The three awards combined will allow CVTC to upgrade both computer workstations and add functions to transportation coordination software. Additionally, the funds will go to replace outdated office equipment and to purchase a laptop and camera to be used by the community engagement coordinator.

“Improving our infrastructure only enhances our ability to serve our ridership, numbering over 100 individuals each month for one or more rides, and our team of 65 volunteer Drivers. Working smarter, not harder has been our goal. We are grateful for the support as the project has moved forward quickly and efficiently,” CVTC Executive Director Ellen Avery stated.

CVTC’s riders and trip requests have both increased by more than 10%. To meet the need, CVTC has a goal of recruiting 35 more volunteer drivers by the end of 2024 for a total of 100 drivers.

“We want to reduce our No Driver Available statistic from 12.8% to under 10%,” stated Community Engagement Coordinator Robin Christopherson.

People who live in the Monadnock region and need transportation to non-emergency medical and other essential destinations or who are interested in becoming a volunteer driver should visit cvtc-nh.org or call 603-821-0569.
