In addition to its food, driving range and live music, The Range in Mason hosts Marty's Driving Range Cruise Night Thursdays during the summer.

The event is open to the public, as proud car owners camp out near their vehicles for the evening. Some lounge with a drink or with dinner in hand, while others toured the grounds, viewing the cars on display.

Greg and Gerry Howell of Ashby, Mass., sat in two camp chairs near the trunk of their 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle. Greg Howell acquired the car in high school, making it the first car he ever owned. He ended up selling it, but years later the car kept coming up in conversation when his son would look at old photographs and ask about it.

Greg was determined to track the car down for his son, so they found the VIN number and hired a private investigator. The car had been to Maine and down to Virginia before Howell bought it back. The name of the car is “White Lightning.”

Christina and Ed Muños of Rindge came to the cruise night in their 1964 Chevy Cobra. Christina Muños has been attending car shows since she was a child and now attends them with her husband. Together, they go to about two per week.

Jack Carroll of Pepperell, Mass., calls his 1939 Cadillac LaSalle a “401K on wheels.” The car has been featured in three magazines and has won a plethora of awards. Carroll shared that designing and working on the car is his hobby, as “The more I worked on it, the more I fell in love with it.”
