After 22 years of classic car nights at Kimball Farm in Jaffrey, Cruising with the Monadnock Oldies organizer Edward Sullivan announced he’d be stepping down, and the Cruise In nights would come to a close, unless another organizer was willing to step up.

Carol Cersosimo and Ben Asaff, co-owners of Carol’s Ice Cream in Rindge, decided they should be the ones to step up.

Cersosimo and Asaff are themselves fans of antique and classic cars, and own several antique Fords.

Asaff said he attended the Cruising with the Monadnock Oldies many years ago, along with avid collector Red White, and it birthed his interest in classic cars.

“It was a shame to see it go,” Asaff said. “It’s an unfortunate thing when something like that ends. You hate to see things that have such an impact go away.”

So, Cersosimo and Asaff decided to open their lot, where they park the food trucks for Carol’s Ice Cream and Carol’s Pizza, to a weekly Cruise In event, and contacted Sullivan about continuing the tradition in the new location.

“It’s a positive event, it’s very kid and family friendly. That’s what we’re about,” Asaff said.

“We want people to be able to see these things, and how they operate, and how they’re different from cars today,” Cersosimo said. “And there’s just the ‘cool factor.’”

Cruising with the Monadnock Oldies will continue to be held on Wednesday nights, as was the tradition at Kimball Farm, each week starting at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. They will be held weekly every Wednesday until Carol’s Ice Cream closes for the summer season.
