Music on Norway Pond will present a celebration of Jewish music at the Hancock Meeting House on Sunday, at 4 p.m.

Mezzo-soprano will perform David Schiff’s monologue opera “Vashti or the Whole Megillah” with Paul Green on clarinet and Doris Stevenson on piano. This is a Purim Spiel, a morality tale. It tells the story of Esther, Xerxes, the Persian King she marries plus the pivotal character of Queen Vashti.

Composer David Schiff has incorporated elements of Klezmer, jazz, musical theater and classical styles, weaving them into the music.

Other works on the program will be “Sonata for Clarinet and Piano” by Leonard Bernstein, “Drei Lieder” for mezzo soprano and piano by Erich Korngold, and Elokai N’shomo” for solo clarinet by Pierre Pinchik.

The concert will be one hour with no intermission. Tickets are $20 at the door, children and students free
