Saturday is filled with holiday cheer in Mason, with a collaboration between the Mason Recreation Committee, Mason Library, Mason Historical Society, the Mason Town Hall Renovation Committee and Mason Fire & EMS organizing a day of holiday crafts activities, and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, culminating in the lighting of the town tree.
On Saturday, Mason Elementary School will host the Greening of Mason from noon to 3 p.m. The event includes wreath-making and holiday crafts, with all supplies included. The event is sponsored by the Mason Public Library, Mason Historical Society and Girl Scouts.
The Town Hall Renovation Committee will be holding a raffle on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. More than a dozen items will be raffled, with funds raised to be contributed to the fund for the renovation of the Town Hall.
Mason Girl Scout Troop 52952 will be holding an essential-needs drive to benefit St. Vincent De Paul Sacred Heart Food Pantry in Greenville. Collection boxes are at the Mason Library and Mason Elementary School. Items will be delivered to St. Vincent de Paul following the Greening of Mason event Saturday, making it the last day for donations. The drive is collecting the following essential items: diapers and wipes, dental care items, deodorant, razors and shaving cream, toilet paper, shampoo and conditioner, feminine products, soap and body wash, hairbrushes and combs, Q-tips, socks, and lotion and lip balm.
Caroling, cocoa and treats will be at the gazebo on the town common at 3 p.m. Santa Claus will arrive by fire truck and the tree will be lit at 4 p.m. There will be opportunities for children to meet Santa and take pictures from 4 to 6 p.m.
