PETERBOROUGHPUUC hosts climate justice event

In conjunction with Unitarian Universalist congregations across the country, on the weekend of Sept. 28 and 29, the Peterborough Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 25 Main St. will be hosting a weekend of activities to locally revive climate justice commitment to continue to combat climate change and its impacts worldwide. The public is invited to all events.

On Saturday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. to noon, preschool and kindergarten-age children can take part in climate-themed activities at PUUC. At noon, there will be a free showing of the movie “Saving Walden’s World” at the Peterborough Community Theater, 6 School St. This documentary follows conservationist engineer and filmmaker Jim Merkel as he converts to a simpler lifestyle for the sake of his son, Walden, while traveling from Maine to low carbon-footprint countries to find the common denominator of their successes. The film is recommended for older children and adults.

On Sunday, Sept. 29, the PUUC will host a “Reimagine Together” service at 10:15 a.m. All are welcome to the service leading people in recommitting energy to saving the planet for future generations. Enter through the frton door.

At 11:15 a.m.,  PUUC will host a climate justice advocacy exhibition hour in the Parish Hall. Enter through the back door. People can learn about what can be done within the community to work for climate justice. Organizations that include Peterborough Renewable Energy Project, Citizens Climate Lobby, Monadnock Sustainability Hub, Window Dressers and the Third Act will be available to answer questions.
