ConVal’s ‘The Pirate Queen’ opens April 13

ConVal Theatre Arts will present its spring musical, Alain Boublil’s and Claude-Michel Schonbergg’s “The Pirate Queen,” Thursday, April 13, through Saturday, April 15, at 7 p.m. at the Lucy Hurlin Theatre at ConVal High School, 184 Hancock Road, Peterborough.

The show is based on a true story, as Boublil and Schonberg, the duo behind “Les Miserables” and “Miss Saigon,” tell of Grace O’Malley and her fight to unite and preserve the Irish clans against Queen Elizabeth I.

Participating students include Hannah Leahigh, Kalyn Ross, Caroline Stultz, Ella Stultz, and Cupid Torres of Antrim; Amanda Bergeron, Rowan Davidson, Kai Flynn, Thomas Flynn and DJ Stevens of Dublin; MakilaSestito of Francestown; Anna-belle Buchanan, Josh Ellis, Miranda Ellis, HadiLancaric, Kettu Reynolds and Emma VanGemert of Greenfield; Nicole Davidson of Hancock, XanderBisson of Henniker; Beau Olesky of Jaffrey, Doc Cassidy, Christian Hall, Alyssa Hamlin, Jennifer Hopkins, Alex Humphrey, Esther Janis, Madison Kemp, Elijah LaCroix, Frank LeBlanc, Megan Millbauer, Madigan Rogers, Isabella Stehly, Kaitlyn Stone, Luca Stowell, Avery Swasey of Peterborough’ Jazzy Woodhouse of Sharon; and AJMackensen of Temple.

Stage direction is provided by Elizabeth Moore, music direction by Brian Moore and choreography by Eve Pierce.
