The ConVal School Board will have a new member in Dr. Greg Kriebel of Peterborough, who was chosen to replace Robert Short, Jr.

Short resigned effective June 8. His term on the School Board was through 2023, so his resignation triggered a selection process by the remaining Peterborough representatives on the board.

This process calls for the remaining representatives from a given town in a cooperative school district to choose, by majority vote, who the replacement will be. The three remaining Peterborough representatives, Richard Dunning, Janine Lesser and Jerome Wilson chose Kriebel, who ran in a late write-in campaign for a school board seat this spring.

Kriebel accepted the position; his appointment is to fill the vacancy until the next District elections in March 2022, according to Board Chair Tim Theberge.

Theberge said that Kriebel will be officially sworn in sometime before the next Board meeting on July 13.

“I would like to take this time to thank Rob for the countless hours devoted to the students and communities of ConVal during his tenure,” Theberge wrote in his announcement of the resignation.

“His professional experience has been an asset to the Board and the District and will be missed,” Theberge added. “Please join me in thanking Rob if you see him and wishing him well on his future endeavors.”
