ConVal boys win giant slalom event

ConVal’s boys took four of the top six spots on their way to a victory in a giant slalom race Friday at Crotched Mountain.

Garret Rousseau was second overall with a combined time of 1 minute, 13.53 seconds over his two runs. Ben Fraley was third in 1:14.97, Cole Dexter fourth in 1:16.14 and Logan Montano sixth in 1:17.54.

Other ConVal skiers were Jake Alonso (12th, 1:21.46), Harlan Bielagus (14th, 1:28.37), Remy Kekuewa-Colon (20th, 1:44.61), Gavin Niemela (21st, 1:59.48) and Cole Bouchard (DNF).

The ConVal girls finished third, led by Jen Hopkins’ third-place finish in  1:16.73.

Lucy Jackson was 12th in 1:26.41. Eliza Bull was 13th in 1:27.39, and Izzy Jobin rounded out the scoring with a 15th-place finish in 1:30.70.

Other skiers for ConVal were Campbell Maggs (17th, 1:35.69), Merrit Kotula (23rd, 1:42.34), Maisie Michaud (24th, 1:45.41) and Mauve Finn (26th, 2:01.20).
