The ConVal girls hung with Lebanon for most of Tuesday night’s playoff game, but scoring woes, a tough environment and foul trouble ultimately pushed the edge the Raiders’ way.

“We just couldn’t score, but we played them well,” said Cougar head coach Kevin Proctor.

ConVal had lost 60-19 the last time the two teams met, but kept the Raiders relatively in check Tuesday, thanks in part to the defense of Lindsey Carey, who guarded 6’2” Lebanon star Becky Wright brilliantly. Wright finished with 15 to lead all scorers, and Carey had 10.

The floodgates opened for Lebanon late as Natalia Hautanen, Rachyl Parslow and Carey all fouled out, and the Raiders pulled away for a 55-27 opening-round victory.

“Tough place to play for sure,” Proctor said.

It was ConVal’s first playoff appearance since 2009. The Cougars finished the season at 8-11.
