ConVal softball falls to Bow in 14 innings

The ConVal softball team headed to Bow Monday, losing 6-5 in 14 innings.

The Cougars scored three runs in the fourth inning. After a Kendall Sullivan single, Lily Mandel was hit by a pitch, Ashley Cronin reached on a fielder's choice and Opale Barrick hit a single. Hannah Beisang’s single drove in two runs, and courtesy runner Makayla Durgin scored on a passed ball.

ConVal scored two more in the seventh. Avery Moore singled and Morgan Bemont reached on an error before Kendall  Sullivan drove in Moore with a single and Mandel single scored Bemont.

Bow tied the game in the bottom of the with a home run, and an error and a missed call allowed Bow to score the winning run in the bottom of the 14th.

Mandel threw all 14 innings, allowing six runs on seven hits, striking out eight and walking five. ConVal also made four errors.

Barrick led the offense, going 3-6 with a run scored, Avery Moore was 3-7 with a run scored, and Sullivan 4-7 and drove in a run. Mandel helped herself by going 2-5 with a walk and a hit-by-pitch. 

The Cougars are now 9-6 with one game left to play. They will travel to Milford on Thursday for a 4 p.m. game.
