The ConVal-Conant girls’ hockey team lost 4-0 to Bedford Tuesday night.

The first two periods of the game were promising for the Griffins, as they trailed the Bulldogs 1-0 heading into the third period before Bedford put three additional goals past junior netminder Olivia Riley.

The Griffins had multiple chances in the Bulldogs zone, lead by sophomore center Sophia Spingola and junior defender Aubrey Niemela. Ultimately, however, no Griffin was able to solve the goaltending tandem of Alex Bobar and Mackenzie Ayou from the Bulldogs.

ConVal-Conant’s defense was strong all game long, with the addition of senior Abigail Lussier, who moved to the back line earlier in the week. Coach Chris Spingola praised new players Kiara Stephenson, Tasha McNeil and Jennae DeShane.

“They really stepped up their game today. As a group they were asking for more minutes, and with their performance they certainly earned it,” he stated.

The Griffins are back in action Saturday afternoon as they take on Bishop Brady/Londonderry/Trinity at Keene Ice for a 2:40 puck drop. They will also be celebrating their seniors on Monday, Feb. 4, at 3:20 p.m. against the Sabers of Souhegan.
