Letter: School voucher money should go to local bookstores

Your series with the Concord Monitor “Inside EFAs” is much appreciated. What bothers me most about the latest article is that families are spending a huge chunk of the voucher money – $1.4 million – on Amazon purchases.

If any legislators are reading this, please, make it a part of the EFA program that any books that are purchased must be ordered through New Hampshire bookstores. It will give these local businesses a boost in the same way that the EFAs that go to local sports and arts program do. I know Amazon has centers in New Hampshire and it may be somewhat more convenient to order through them, but the stockholders of an outside corporation don’t need the money as much as our local retailers do.
