Martha and Jeff Crocker will be the next speakers in Jaffrey Civic Center “Our Stories to Share Series” Friday, Feb. 4, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Martha was the assistant Cheshire County attorney for five years (1980 to 1985) prior to being appointed to the District Court bench. During her time in the Cheshire County Attorney’s Office dealing with all-male members of the Cheshire County bar, town and county police departments and members of the judiciary, she was the sole practicing female attorney in the county, and she will recount her experience during those years.

Jeff is a practicing attorney in the Peterborough office of Upton & Hatfield. Prior to joining Upton & Hatfield, he practiced law for 39 years as a partner with the firm of Tower & Crocker,P.A. in his hometown of Jaffrey. Jeff’s parents, Joe, and Esther Crocker, moved to Jaffrey in 1950, becoming the first Jewish family in the town. Jeff was born on Yom Kippur in 1953 at Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough and grew up in Jaffrey, attending public schools in Jaffrey through the ninth grade. Following his graduation from law school and passing the New Hampshire bar exam, Jeff returned to town in 1979. He will share reflections about his childhood in Jaffrey as a member of Jaffrey’s only Jewish family.

Jeff’s and Martha’s talks are the fifth in the center’s monthly speaker series, which is held on the first Friday of each month, October to May. Joe Steinfield, who writes monthly columns for the Keene Sentinel and the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript, is the moderator for the series.

The program will be available as an in-person event at the Jaffrey Civic Center, 40 Main St., in the Auditorium Gallery as well as via Zoom. Registration is required, and the center is requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Masks will also be required.
