An exhibition of Southwest landscape paintings by Barbara Danser will be showcased at the Optimist Café, located at 16 Colls Farm Road in Jaffrey, from April 10 through May 6.

The exhibit will be available for viewing on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

An artist talk and reception will take place Saturday, April 13, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., when Danser will tell stories about her plein air painting experiences in the Southwest, with a focus on the north central region of New Mexico. She will answer questions about plein air painting, such as how to prepare and pack supplies, how to connect with the landscape and how to select a composition prior to painting.

Danser has returned to New Mexico many times to retreat and paint in nature, sometimes for periods of months, and has been an artist-in-residence at the Mill Gallery in Santa Fe. Many of her paintings portray landscapes around Taos, Santa Fe and Ghost Ranch in New Mexico.

She has conducted plein air painting workshops in New Mexico and Utah since 1996.
