The case against a Rindge man accused in Massachusetts of laundering millions of dollars generated by fraudulently billing the state’s Medicaid program through his former transportation business is heading to trial.

Michael Davini, 57, was scheduled for a plea hearing at the Worcester Superior Court on Monday, but is now scheduled for trial assignment – where a trial date will be decided – on June 19 according to EmalieGainey, a spokesperson for the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office.

Davini was indicted on three counts of money laundering in March by a Worcester County grand jury after being accused of attempting to hide $3 million in cash and two homes under his wife’s name, according to a press release issued by the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office.

Davini is the former owner of Rite Way LLC, a Westminster, Massachusetts-based company that primarily provided non-emergency transportation services to methadone clinics. The company ceased operations in 2015.

He had previously been indicted in September 2016 with two counts of larceny over $250, four counts of Medicaid false claims, and one count of kickbacks.

Rite Way, Davini, and his three former managers, were indicted by a statewide grand jury in September 2016 in connection with fraudulent bills that were sent to MassHealth for services never provided.

The company was also accused of submitting fraudulent claims for non-emergency wheelchair van transportation and offering and paying out cash to MassHealth members to recruit others to use Rite Way.

Davini and his company were each charged with two counts of larceny over $250, four counts of Medicaid false claims, and one count of kickbacks.

The three managers – who were facing their own charges – all pleaded guilty and were sentenced Monday.
