Letter: Thanks to Hancock officials

Last Saturday, March 18, Hancock held its Town Meeting. Over 150 residents attended, conscious of their civic rights and responsibilities in doing so.

It was a lengthy meeting – over five hours -- where differences of opinion were strongly expressed. We want to thank RicHaskins, our town moderator, and Laurie Bryan, Jeff Brown and Ginny Smith, our Select Board, for their service to our town. The hours at Town Meeting are a drop in the bucket when considering the hours upon hours upon hours they spent analyzing the budget, considering options, holding public meetings to review the budget and warrant articles, plus oversee the regular business of caring for our town.

Throughout Saturday’s meeting, they excelled at listening carefully, articulating the items under discussion, being diplomatic. Hancock is indeed fortunate to have these individuals working on our behalf.
