New England Dickens Fest returns to The Park Theatre in Jaffrey

The Park Theatre, 19 Main St. in Jaffrey, will hold its second New England Dickens Fest Nov. 30 to Dec. 22. The festival features concerts, films, theater and holiday activities.

The festival opens Saturday, Nov. 30, with a candlelit ceremony at 6 p.m. led by the town crier, “Mr. Obadiah Brimtop,” followed by the Heather Pierson Trio performing the “A Charlie Brown Christmas” soundtrack at 7:30 p.m.

Events are as follows:

– Sunday, Dec. 1: A French-Canadian Christmas concert with Josée Vachon and Patrick Ross.

– Thursday and Friday, Dec. 5 and 6: Fred Marple and the Speed Bumps and Friends.

– Saturday, Dec. 7: Taylor Hughes and Rebecca Turmel.

– Sunday, Dec. 8: Electric Earth presents The Horszowski Trio.

– Friday, Dec. 13: “Oliver Twist” (1922) silent film with live organ accompaniment by Jeff Rapsis.

– Saturday, Dec. 14: Currier and Ives Cookie Tour, annual Santa party with free screening of “A Christmas Story” (1983), and “It’s a Wonderful Life” (1946).

– Sunday, Dec. 15: Project Shakespeare’s “A Christmas Carol.”

– Wednesday, Dec. 18: Holiday open mic and Dickens trivia night.

– Thursday, Dec. 19: Charles Dickens’ “Christmas Ghost Stories” read by Lisa Bostnar and other actors.

– Friday, Dec. 20: The Granite State Ringers.

– Saturday, Dec. 21: The Kazoo Caroling Choir, Ebenezer’s Best Whiskers Contest and Elvis Christmas concert.

– Sunday, Dec. 22: Mr. and Mrs. Fezziwig’s Player Piano Christmas Party.
