Letter: Doyle seeks Mason Select Board seat

My name is Rob Doyle, and I am running for Mason selectman. Please vote for me on March 11 at the Mason Elementary School. The polls are open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

As a resident of Mason for nearly 20 years, many of you know me from my service on our School Board, Conservation Commission and Town Hall Renovation Committee. I am a recently retired school principal and a former Peace Corps Volunteer. I'm also a longtime beekeeper, producing local honey and providing pollinators for our meadows, gardens and orchards.

My interest in serving on the Select Board stems from my belief that we can work together to ensure our town is a place where residents can afford to live freely and comfortably, whether they are raising families or have retired and are living on fixed incomes. I believe we can maintain Mason’s rural character while providing an appropriate level of essential services, such as fire protection, emergency medical services, police protection, a vibrant public library and road maintenance, without overburdening taxpayers.

As a former principal, I oversaw a yearly operating budget of nearly $3 million. I administered a school of 700 students and a 110 staff members. Working with parents, teachers and students, we created a school atmosphere of excellence where students and staff flourished. I would like to do the same thing for the community I live in.

I look forward to putting my skills to work as a member of the Mason Select Board. Please vote for Robert J. Doyle for selectman on March 11.
