The Dublin Community Center is hosting a spring pop-up fine arts and crafts sale June 8, featuring the work of 15 local artisans from around the Monadnock region.

The event will feature wares ranging from fused and hand-blown glass, naturally dyed scarves, paintings, furniture, leather crafts, porcelain and fine silver jewelry, ceramics, wood carving and marquetry to flower bouquets, assemblage and visual storytelling.

“I wanted to create a spring event for myself and other local artists/artisans after having created a successful show at Bass Hall in Peterborough a few years ago,” said the event’s organizer, artist Rebecca Welsh. Welsh describes herself as “a natural dyer creating color from plant materials using mordants and assists that allow her organic cotton, silk and linen scarves to retain those colors.”

Welsh got in touch with Mary Loftis, who is involved with the community center.

“She thought it was a great idea – so we put our heads together and came up with a list of top-notch artisans to invite,” she said.

Welsh said she was excited about the wide variety of disciplines on display at the event.

“I am looking forward to offering the public this high-quality event and a really fun day of good camaraderie with all the artists,” she said.

“I love the fact that these local pop-up shows will attract a diverse audience, many of whom I suspect have not come across my work before,” said visual storyteller Soosan Dunholter, who will be showcasing her work at the event. “I also enjoy events like these for networking with other local artists – it gives me connections that might lead to future opportunities and collaborations.

Susan Barker, who will be displaying her fine silver jewelry at the event, echoed Dunholter’s comments.

“Pop-up shows are an excellent way for an artist to expose their work to the public – quick and easy,” Barker said. “The delight of this June 8 pop-up is the variety of artistic talent that the public will see in one space.

Both Dunholter and Barker said they would be debuting some new work at the show.

Many of the spring pop-up sale’s featured artists have been a part of Monadnock Art Tours and the League of NH Craftsmen Exhibitions over the years: visual Dunholter, ceramist Brian James, jeweler Susan Barker, painter Rachel Germond, diorama artist Rosemary Mack, glassblower Alex Kalish, ceramist Shana Brautigam, leather crafters Horse Hill Studio, woodworker John Harris, fused-glass artist Gigi Laberge, marqueter Craig Altobello and jeweler Forrest Bencivenga. There will also be flower bouquets by Flowers at Lottarock.
