Dublin Consolidated School third-graders recently culminated their study of birds by building birdhouses.

Community volunteers Dale Gable, Jerry Branch, Harry Wolhandler and Bill Gurney. prepped the pieces for the houses, and students assembled them with their assistance.

The birdhouse project served as a grand finale to cap off the students’ study of birds. The study focused on adaptations, social interactions and group behavior, which connect to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).

Upon completion, students were able to bring their birdhouses home.

“Thank you to Dale, Jerry, Bill, and Harry for coming out to DCS and helping our students with this project,” Principal Nicole Pease stated. “It was amazing to see their enthusiasm; they enjoyed this activity very much! We hope to continue to provide these experiences to complement our curriculum moving forward.”
