Dublin’s Civil War monument received a cleaning in the last week of May. “We are very happy that the Town had the statue cleaned, it really looks so much better!” Dublin Historical Society member Lucy Shonk said. The town’s monument has stood on the Historical Society property since 1929, and the town and the Dublin Historical Society have called off efforts to relocate the statue due to cost, Shonk said, after discussing it earlier in the year. The Historical Society’s centennial celebration, originally scheduled for August, has been postponed until 2021.
