A motor vehicle rollover crash in New Ipswich Thanksgiving night led to one passenger being taken to the hospital after first responders extricated them from the vehicle
On Thursday, at approximately 11:50 p.m., police and rescue crews responded to the area of 171 Greenville Road for a report of a motor vehicle crash, according to a press release issued by New Ipswich police on Friday morning.
First responders found a Chrysler 300 sedan on the side of the road, rolled down a steep embankment. The car had hit several trees and sustained major damage, and had come to rest on its side. This was the only vehicle involved in the crash.
Driver Christopher P. Leonard, 18, of Hooksett, and two of his passengers exited the vehicle under their own power before police arrived on the scene, but a third passenger was trapped in the vehicle, and had to be extricated by the New Ipswich Fire Department.
The girl who had been trapped in the vehicle sustained serious injuries and was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. Police did not release her name as she is a minor.
Leonard sustained minor injuries and was taken by Souhegan Valley Ambulance Service to Monadnock Community Hospital for treatment.
Police are investigating the crash, but said evidence at the scene suggests speed was a factor. The New Ipswich Police Department is seeking anyone with information about this crash to contact police at 878-2771.
