Since 2015, the Ewing Awards have recognized artists of all media and styles in the Monadnock region recognizing artistic excellence and community devotion, and the Jaffrey Civic Center, 40 Main St. in Jaffrey is opening its galleries to spotlight award winners of the past.
Sculptors, painters, writers and those in intermedia categories will be recognized in an exhibition and accompanying performances through June 17.
Last year, the Jaffrey Civic Center also received a Ewing Award for being an arts presenter under the new leadership of director Rebecca Fredrickson. It was the idea of Susan Wadsworth, JCC volunteer, artist, and board member that one of the 2023 JCC exhibitions be devoted to the past Ewing winners. All galleries, downstairs in the auditorium and upstairs in the Cunningham galleries, will be filled with Ewing art.
Visitors will see the geometric play in the works by Bruce Blanchette and Craig Stockwell, playful dinosaurs by Christopher Myott, inlaid wood with dragonfly and grasses by Craig Altobello, graphic design by Ernie Hebert and Julie Ferrari, photography by Michael Moore, atmospheric barns by Hunter Milford, landscapes by James Murphy, Gill Truslow, Medora Hebert and colorful abstractions by Edward Kingsbury, Jessie Pollock, Deborah Kaufman. Other participating artists are Virginia Eskin, Tim Campbell, Sharon Myers, Patricia Wright, Jane E Simpson, Jeanne Maguire Thieme, Gill Truslow, Larry Duberstein, Wendy Klemperer, Soosen Dunholter, Erika Radich, Maggie Cahoon, Medora Hebert, Maureen Ahern, Hebert, William Doreski, Molly Fletcher, Rostislav Eismont, Alice Fuld, Erin Sweeney, Katharina Rooney, Jeffrey Newcomer, Carmela Azzaro, John Roberts, Sandy Shermanm and Rosemarie Bernardi.
