Fassett Farm Nursery, 822 Mountain Road in Jaffrey, will hold a festival Saturday Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to celebrate our its second season.
The nursery will offer a 20% discount sale on any remaining plants. Activities will start with local yoga instructor Michelle Davis for a yoga sequence designed to support balance, strength and flexibility while gardening. This will run from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. At noon, Brian Bishoff will be offering an introduction to forest bathing on the land and trails of Fassett Farm Nursery. This approximately one-hour event is a slow, mindful walk with invitations to use all senses to connect to the natural world and calm one’s mind and body. At 1:30 p.m., Jen Williams will offer an hour-long sound bath. This meditative experience is designed to promote a sense of grounding and connection to nature.
From 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., Celticladda, which consists of Nat Backes and Randy Miller, will perform. Backes plays guitar, fiddle and concertina, and is the music director for the Nelson Monday night contradance. Miller plays fiddle and accordion and has performed nationwide, and runs Fiddlecase Books, a publisher of tune collections and compact discs. He is the recipient of the 2021 Governor's Folk Arts Award presented by the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts.
Throughout the day, executive chef Tim Gordon of Chislehurst Kitchen will be offering up fall flavors with hot apple fritters and mulled cider, plus handmade small-batch jams, baked goods, artisan chocolates and other offerings. People can bring their own chairs, blankets and yoga mats. This event is free and open to all ages.
