Judy Wilson Ferstenberg resigned from the Peterborough Planning Board on Tuesday. Her successor will likely be one of the Board’s alternates, appointed at the next meeting, Planning Board Chair Ivy Vann said. Ferstenberg cited a busy work schedule as her reason for withdrawing, effective immediately, in a letter to fellow Board members and Town Planner Danica Melone. Ferstenberg was in the second year of her first three-year term on the board.

“I thought she brought a useful and interesting perspective to our work,” Vann said, and that she was sorry to see Ferstenberg go. It’s not easy to get a newcomer up to speed on the fairly technical operations of the Planning Board after a more experienced member leaves, she said.

Ferstenberg did not return a request for comment by press time. Earlier this year, she ran for the Hillsborough District 24 State Representative seat on the Democratic ticket, losing in the primary to incumbents Ivy Vann and Peter Leishman.

Current Planning Board alternates are Sarah Steinberg Heller and Lindsay Dreyer.
