Fireworks were great

To the editor:

The Fourth of July is a grand holiday for our country. The spirit of community was unmistakable at Hancock’s Independence Day celebration this year. The ringing of the Paul Revere bell at the Meeting House, reading the Declaration of Independence, enjoying the ice cream social and music performance by Age of Eyes on the Commons, and as dusk fell the spectacular fireworks display over Norway Pond - all contributed to a most enjoyable evening. A special thank you goes to the Hancock Police and Fire Departments, the Hancock Department of Public Works, the Select Board, the Women’s Guild, the First Congregational Church of Hancock, Pyrotecnico, the Adams family, Bob Fogg and Nathaniel Peirce. Also thanks to all those who made the evening possible, especially Diane Kendall, Eric Spitzbarth, Amy Markus, Nina Pollock , Megan Dodge, John Hayes, Robin Mose, Wes Bockley, Liz Cohen, and Dan Adams. We appreciate the support and generosity of everyone attending the evening’s events and hope to see you again next year.
