Franklin Pierce University officially welcomed Peter Eden as its seventh president during an inauguration ceremony Friday at Spagnuolo Hall.

The event brought together faculty, staff, students, trustees, alumni and community members. It began with an invocation from Class of 2005 member Derek Scalia, followed by a welcome from Steve Duprey, chairman of the university’s board of trustees.

History professor Mary Kelly, Athletic Director Matthew Johnson and Class of 2025 member Ryan Fitzpatrick spoke, as did Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Catherine M. Paden.

The program also featured a performance of the Franklin Pierce Alma Mater by students Alexis Massey and LyNeta Brand, accompanied on electric guitar by student Nickolaus Crist.

In his address, Eden shared his vision for the university’s future – one rooted in collaboration, transformation and a focus on student success.

“Students, we are here because of you,” he said. “It’s all about student success, however measured. Everything we do is for you.”
