The Friends of the Greenfield Community Meetinghouse (FGCM) have partnered with the New Hampshire Group charitable gaming program on a fundraiser for the 228-year-old Greenfield Meetinghouse.

Until Dec. 31, a percentage of daily proceeds from the Lakes Region Casino in Laconia will benefit the FGCM’s building fund.

“We are very pleased and grateful to be partnering with the New Hampshire Group on this fundraiser for our Meetinghouse. The Greenfield Meetinghouse is vital to the health and well-being of the Greenfield community. It’s our town’s only community center, and it’s always been the heart and soul of the town,” said Sheldon Pennoyer, chair of the FGCM.

The New Hampshire Group “Rebels With a Cause” charitable gaming program raises money for New Hampshire nonprofits. As of October, the program had raised more than $7.1 million for 262 New Hampshire nonprofits in 2023.

“The FGCM would like to thank (state) Sen. Denise Ricciardi for helping our group to have this amazing fundraising opportunity,” said Kathy Seigars, treasurer of the FGCM.

In 2019, the Town of Greenfield received at LCHIP grant to assess the condition of the town’s 1795 Meetinghouse. The assessment, completed  by Misiaszek Turpin architects, estimated that the town's Meetinghouse needs between $1.5 and $2 million of repairs and renovations to provide accessibility, improve energy efficiency, restore the basement-level community room and kitchen and bring the building up to code.

The FGCM, which works in partnership with the town, was founded by a group of residents in 2019 to raise funds  for and build awareness of the  Meetinghouse renovation project. For information, go to greenfieldmeetinghouse.org.
