Find out about the new Community Power law that could be an electricity game-changer for New Hampshire municipalities with potential savings for residential electricity bills during a presentation on Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Marlborough Community House, 160 Main St.
The Monadnock Energy Hub has invited Henry Herndon from Clean Energy New Hampshire (CENH) to discuss the exciting opportunities the new law provides for New Hampshire communities. He will give a presentation and then open the floor to discussion.
On Oct. 1, SB286 became law in New Hampshire. The law allows municipalities to purchase electricity on behalf of their residents. Multiple municipalities may also come together as larger buying blocks to lower energy costs. The law also provides the opportunity for municipalities to choose energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydro. This could in turn help ignite local energy production and create regional energy jobs.
Herndon is the Director of Local Energy Solutions at Clean Energy NH, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting clean energy in the state. He works to support local municipalities and energy committees transition to a clean energy future. He brings a wealth of knowledge about the energy legislation and infrastructure in the state and will be sharing what he knows.
The Monadnock Energy Hub is a regional grassroots effort that pursues effective and achievable initiatives that reduce greenhouse gases. The Hub works to accelerate the adoption of energy efficiency and renewable energy, and improve energy security and resilience throughout our communities. The Hub is organizing an effort to support regional communities seeking to adopt Community Power and work toward 100% renewable energy.
