Grace Wight, 18, is due in court on May 1, for deposition, the next step in an ongoing case after she was allegedly involved in the motor vehicle to pedestrian collision that killed fellow Lyndeborough resident Debess Rogers in July.

The accident occurred when Wight’s vehicle crossed to the left-hand side of Center Road in Lyndeborough early in the morning of July 15. Rogers was 60 years old.

Wight has been charged with negligent homicide, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon (her Dodge truck), and vehicular assault. She was indicted on Feb. 28. The next item on the schedule is a deposition hearing on Monday, May 1, according to a clerk at the Hillsborough County North Superior Court.

Wight pled not guilty to all charges, and her attorney, Jim Rosenberg, said last month that the speedy trial standard for this case is nine months, but circumstances could delay or expedite it. He said he does not “expect much excitement” from the May 1 hearing.

That upcoming deposition will give Wight a chance to enter formal evidence in her own words. She is still attending classes at Wilton-Lyndeborough High School.

In an initial bit of confusion, the indictment indicated that the incident took place on Mountain Road, despite the police report, written on July 15 by the New Hampshire State Police, stating that it was in the area of 1316 Center Road. In a motion on March 27, court files were corrected that it was on Center Road. The report said it was at approximately 2:38 a.m.
