The Mariposa Museum and World Culture Center, 26 Main St., Peterborough, will launch a year-long Great Decisions program in February to explore critical foreign policy issues facing the United States.

The first session, on Feb. 6 at 7 p.m., will focus on โ€œU.S. Changing Leadership of the World Economy.โ€ The program will be co-moderated by Bob Beck and Peter Henriques, both Peterborough residents.ย

Beck is a retired U.S. foreign policy official who served overseas from 1990 to 2020, including roles in Europe, the Middle Eastย and Asia. He holds degrees in Soviet and Eastern European studies and international relations and teaches foreign policy at local lifelong learning programs. He also writes a column for the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript.

Henriques is a dual U.S. and Australian citizen whose Peace Corps service in Zaire led to a career in international business spanning six continents. He holds degrees in history and international affairs, and also lectures at lifelong learning programs in New Hampshire.

Topics prepared by the Foreign Policy Association include U.S.-China relations, the rise of India, climate change cooperation, NATOโ€™s future, artificial intelligence and national security, the Middle Eastย and American foreign policy challenges.

Programs will occur on the first Thursday from February through May, resuming in September after a summer break. Each session begins with a video, followed by a presentation and group discussion.

Great Decisions programs are free, and donations are welcome. To attend, send email to admin@mariposamuseum.org.ย
