Students in grades one to four at Greenfield Elementary School recently explored science and history during a daylong field trip to the SEE Science Center and the Manchester Historic Association’s Millyards Museum.

On Jan. 31, 55 GES students traveled to Manchester to explore the SEE Science Center. At SEE, students had the opportunity to view a special science demonstration which included an air cannon, some simple machines and the Van de Graaff generator.

After lunch, students visited the Millyard Museum to learn about the history of New Hampshire. Students partnered up for a scavenger hunt and explored hands-on activities. They carded wool and sorted cards to demonstrate the process of using water to generate energy.

“The students had an amazing time exploring the museums of Manchester,” stated Principal Shawne Hilliard. “These enriching experiences are so important to enable our students to see other places, think about potential careers, learn more about topics and just have fun!”

Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders and Hilliard thanked the Greenfield Elementary School PTO for providing funding for Millyards Museum admission, and the SEE Science Center for waiving admission.
