Greenfield man injured in bike crash

A Greenfield man was hospitalized after crashing a trailbike in Hopkinton on Sunday morning.

Nicolaos Tzouratzis, 56, of Greenfield was riding a trailbike in the Boundtree ATV Club’s trail system around 11:30 a.m. when he “failed to stay upright and crashed his machine,” according to a press release from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department. A passerby found Tzouratzis and brought him to the Pine Street trailhead in Hopkinton, where he was checked by emergency responders and sent to Concord Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

Drugs and alcohol were not apparent factors in the crash, according to an initial investigation by a Fish and Game Conservation Officer.

“Serious injuries can occur even at low speeds,” Fish and Game personnel reminded off-highway recreational vehicle (OHRV) riders. “Please be safe and courteous while enjoying the many OHRV trails New Hampshire has to offer.”

The Boundtree ATV Club’s trail system is a network of class six and private trails that span Hopkinton, Contoocook, and Warner. Trails accommodate ATVs, dirtbikes, and UTVs or side-by-sides up to 65 inches wide.
