On Nov. 22, New Hampshire storyteller Simon Brooks visited Greenfield Elementary School to share stories and laughs with the students in pre-K through fourth grade.

Brooks received laughs from every classroom as he told  folk tales like “Anansi”, “Stone Soup” and many others during his 2 1/2-hour visit. As part of the Children’s Literary Foundation Rural Library Grant,  GES and the Stephenson Memorial Library received in June 2024, Brooks was the presenter for the grant kickoff.

The money the school and library received allowed GES librarian Deane Rynerson to purchase 25 to 30 new books for the school library,  while Stephenson Memorial Library Director Ella Cademartori was able to purchase almost 100 books for the library.

During the visit, CLiF provided enough board books for each preschool student to leave with two new books.  The older students will receive books at the spring storytelling presentation.

“The library and GES wants to thank Simon for coming and sharing his talent for telling stories and would like to thank CLiF for the grant that made this all possible,” Cademartori said.
