Other qualifications: I am a lifelong resident and small business owner in Greenville. I was the Greenville representative on the board of directors of the Souhegan Valley Ambulance Service for over 20 years, serving as Chairman for a good part of those; a member of the Greenville American Legion Post 13 for over 50 years, serving twice as Commander, as well as Vice Commander, Junior Vice Commander, Chairman of the Membership Committee, Chairman of the House Committee, Chairman of the Field Committee, and on the Firing Squad; a Life Member of the VFW in West Townsend, MA; Chairman of the Greenville Parks and Recreation Committee; Town of Greenville Police Officer; Town of Greenville Fire Fighter; served in the US Army, and received an Honorable Discharge after completing a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969. I also am an avid vintage and antique vehicle enthusiast, and am a member of the Granite State Antique Truck Club and the Granite State Gas and Steam Engine Club.

What are two issues you think are important and how would you address them?: As in most small towns, taxes are a major concern to all residents, especially the elderly, a majority of whom are on fixed incomes. I feel that the Selectmen should objectively address these concerns.

I would like to have the various town departments be more accountable to the Selectmen for their overall standard operations and performance. Working closely with the department heads will bring a better understanding and knowledge of the problems our community may be facing.

Maggie Bickford

Age: 68

Years living in town: 42 years

Previous elected office held: Elected to one year term of Selectman, Greenville and Supervisor of Voter Checklist

Other qualifications: MBA, volunteer on Greenville Beautification Committee, served on Board of Greenville Community Profile Committee, served on Greenville Old Home Day Committee

What are two issues you think are important and how would you address them?

The impact of high property taxes on our homeowners and the potential cost of addressing our aging infrastructure are two important issues that we face. Obviously, we need to increase the revenue to help with the cost of repairs and to relieve some of the pressure on our homeowners. In order to do this we need to entice the participation of the townspeople to help determine, develop and deploy plans to help Greenville deal with the challenges. Some say it takes a village, I say it takes town participation to address these seemingly insurmountable problems. Please join me and the rest of the Board in being part of the solution.
