Greenville celebrates Old Home Day Saturday

Greenville celebrates its Old Home Day and town picnic Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Town Field, with children’s crafts, a flea market, farmers’ market, picnic and live music.
Events will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with no rain date. The flea market and farmers’ market will open at 9 a.m. and run throughout the day.
From 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., there will be a station for tie-dyeing, with a free T-shirt provided for children ages 14 or younger, while supplies last, or residents can bring their own items to tie-dye.
At 11 a.m., Marshall Buttrick will give a history presentation on Greenville’s mills. He will repeat the presentation at 1 p.m.
At noon, there will be an old-fashioned town picnic potluck. People can bring a dish to share with friends and neighbors, while the members of the Select Board and other volunteers cook burgers and hot dogs on the grill.
From noon to 2 p.m., there will be live music with Heath Lewis, playing a mix of blues, country, and rock ’n’ roll.
At 12:30 p.m., the pool will be open for activities in the water and on the deck. From 1 p.m., to 3 p.m. there will be children’s arts and crafts activities on the Town Field.
At 2:30 p.m., there will be a pie-eating contest for children and adults, and judging for the pie-baking contest. Entries for the pie-baking contest must be submitted by 2 p.m. at the MascenicSAU offices, adjacent to the field.
