Chamberlin Free Public Library, 46 Main St. in Greenville, will host “Saturday Morning Cartoons: Bugs Bunny, Bullwinkle, and Big Business in the 1960s” on Thursday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m.

Margo Burns, a scholar and animation enthusiast, will explore the evolution of Saturday morning cartoons and their impact on advertising and culture. The program will include clips from classic cartoons and examine how the rise of television transformed animation from theater features into a staple of children’s television, accompanied by targeted advertising for sugary cereals and toys.

Burns, the 10th-generation great-granddaughter of Rebecca Nurse of Salem Witch Trials fame, is an expert in Salem Witch Hunt records and a lifelong fan of animation. She studied animation at the Rhode Island School of Design and curated a personal library of over 750 animation titles.

This free program is made possible by a grant from New Hampshire Humanities. For information, call 603-878-1105 or visit chamberlinlibrary.org.
