The sewer rate for Greenville Estates is up 7 cents.

The rate was set by the Greenville Select Board, which also operates as the town’s water and sewer commission, following a public hearing Wednesday night.

The Greenville Estates Village District, which includes a mobile home cooperative of about 189 homes, has a separate rate from the rest of the town’s sewer users. The rate is set based on a formula laid out in a 50-year contract entered into by the town in 1996.

Town Administrator Tara Sousa said the annual public hearing on the sewer rate is “essentially a formality” as both sides must adhere to the agreed-upon formula, which is based upon the wastewater treatment facility budget for the year and average daily flow.

The previous rate was set at $9.33 per 1,000 gallons. Following Wednesday’s hearing, the rate is now $9.40 per 1,000 gallons.

The current sewer rate for the remainder of Greenville water users is $20 per 1,000 gallons. Sousa said the Select Board do not anticipate changing the rate for the rest of the town this year.
