Hancock Run for the Honey is Aug. 17

The Betty Pels Run for the Honey 5K road race will be Saturday, Aug. 17, with a race start of 8 a.m.

As part of Hancock’s Old Home Days celebration, the race is run on tree-lined paved and gravel roads. There are two moderate hills and  rolling terrain.

Race-day pickup of numbers and payment of entry fees is at the Vestry, next to the Meetinghouse on Main Street in the center of Hancock. The start is on School Street and the finish is at the Meetinghouse and Vestry on Main Street. There is a water station at the two-mile mark. Bathrooms are located at registration and the finish. The first 100 registrants for the 5K will receive a jar of honey.

In addition, there is a fun run for children at 9 a.m. at the bandstand. It is free and registration is at the Vestry on the day of the race.

There are awards for the first three finishers in each of nine age categories for male and female ranging from 13 and under to 80 and over.

Registration and information is online at hancock5k.com. The race entry is $5 for Hancock residents and $10 for non-residents. Register online by Thursday, Aug. 15.
