The towns of Hancock and Antrim are enacting a 6-ton weight restriction on town roads earlier than usual this year, citing anticipated warmer weather and rain. The restrictions began Monday, Feb. 24, and will stay in effect until further notice.

Vehicles with a gross weight over six tons are not allowed on Class V roads except when permission is granted by waiver. Waivers for travel on Hancock roads can be obtained by contacting the Department of Public Works at (603) 525-4087 or by email at hwydept@hancocknh.org. Waivers for Antrim roads can be requested through Jim Plourde, Road Agent at 588-2611. These waivers are granted on a case-by-case basis and are dependent on the overnight temperatures.
