Harris Center for Conservation Education, 83 King’s Highway in Hancock, will host “Birding for All: Birding the Nighthawk Migration” Friday, Aug. 26, 6 to 7 p.m. on the Brenner Bridge near Depot Park in Peterborough

Birder Phil Brown and nighthawk enthusiast Brett Amy Thelen will search for the spectacle from a vantage point at the confluence of Nubanusit Brook and the Contoocook River in downtown Peterborough. Bring binoculars, or borrow a pair of the Harris Center’s. Beginning birders and all ages are welcome. Registration is required at harriscenter.org/events. For information, contact Brown at brown@harriscenter.org.

Birding for All outings are designed with inclusivity in mind for people who experience accessibility challenges as a result of a disability or other health concern. The Brenner Bridge is accessible to people who use wheelchairs, and there are two parking spaces reserved for people with disabilities in the adjacent Riverwalk parking lot.

The Harris Center will offer shorebirding at Howe Reservoir Sunday, Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Join Eric Masterson for a paddle at Howe Reservoir, which has been drained to facilitate repairs to the dam. If the water level is too low for boating, the trip will be offered as a 1.5-mile roundtrip hike. Participants should bring binoculars, and if the group is boating, a canoe or kayak, paddles and a personal floatation device for each person in the boat.

Exact meeting location will be provided upon registration. Registration is required at harriscenter.org/events. For questions, contact Eric Masterson at masterson@harriscenter.org.
