ConVal wins home track meet over Souhegan and Hollis-Brookline

ConVal’s boys’ and girls’ track teams piled up the points at their first home track meet of the season against Souhegan and Hollis-Brookline Tuesday, April 25.

Both teams were victorious, with the boys scoring 66 points and the girls compiling 67.

For the boys, sophomore Kendrick Edwards posting a 11.37-second 100-meter dash time that was good for first place. He also placed second in the 200-meter dash in 23.52 seconds and first in the long jump with a jump of 19-feet, 7 inches.

Junior Anthony Cadwallader posted several personal bests, starting with fourth place in the 100-meter dash (12.05), third place in the 200-meter dash (24.45), and third in the high jump (5-feet, 6-inches). His younger brother, sophomore Roman Cadwallader, won both the shot put and discus. His shot put throw was 35-feet, 11-inches, and he tossed the discus 82-feet, 11-inches.

Junior Jamie Post placed first in three of his events: the 110-meter hurdles in 18.28, the 300-meter hurdles in 47.98 and the 1600-meter run in 5:23.65. Post finished second in the triple jump with 32-feet, 1 1/2-inches.

Jack Harris took first place in the pole vault with a personal best of 9-feet, 7-inches.

Senior Ryan Charron finished second in the 400 meters (58.64) and fourth in the triple jump (31-feet, 8-inches). Fellow senior Nathaniel Mao finished fourth in the 200 (24.97) and third in the long jump (16-feet, 2.5-inches).

For the third meet in a row, Josh Decker ran a personal best in the 3,200 meters. His 11:48.80 finish was good for second place. Freshman Mason Deschenes finished second in the 1,600 with a time of 5:36.91, then followed up with third place in the 400 (1:03.21).

For the girls, junior Tasha MacNeil finished in first place in all four of her events: the 100 meters (12.85 seconds), shot put (27-feet, 8-inches), discus (88-feet. 1-inch) and javelin (99-feet, 9-inches). Fellow junior Aida Davis swept the 200 and 400, with times of 29.15 and 1:05.03, respectively.

Senior Brianna Decker had a strong day in the triple jump (28-feet, 8-inches), and freshman Charley Pyle-Cunningham finished first in the long jump (12-feet, 1 1/2-inches) and third in the 800 meters (2:54.30).

Liza Petrov and Sara Mackie placed third (7:10) and fourth (7:32) respectively in the 1,600. JennaeDeShane placed third in the shot put and discus.

In all, ConVal athletes achieved 20 personal-best performances, despite 16 Cougars missing the meet due to the April vacation week.
