The Conant girls’ tennis team lost their final match of the regular season 5-4 at Pelham on Monday.
With the loss, the Orioles fell to 7-7, a record coach Glo Morison stated should be enough to get the team in the playoffs next week.
Margaret Winiecki won 8-0 at first singles, Kelly Williams won 8-6 at second singles and Nobley Walker won 8-5 at fourth singles. The first doubles team of Winiecki and Williams won 8-0.
Lilly Rennie lost 8-1 at third singles, as did Grace Lewis at fifth singles, and Riley Goddard lost 8-0 at sixth singles. Rennie and Walker lost 8-2 at second doubles, and the third doubles team of Lewis and Goddard fought back from a 5-0 deficit before losing 8-6.
After a 9-0 loss to Timberlane Regional Schools Monday, Makenna Proctor provided the only win for the Cougars in an 8-1 defeat to Pembroke Academy Tuesday.
Proctor’s win was 8-1 at second singles. Christine Broderick lost 8-2 at first singles, Ally Larson lost 8-6 at third singles and Ally Hodgen lost 8-2 at fourth singles.
Broderick and Proctor lost 8-2 at first doubles, while Larson and Hodgen lost 8-3 at second doubles. Because ConVal only had four players, they forfeit fifth and sixth singles and third doubles.
