Hiroya Tusukamoto, a fingerpicking-style guitarist, will perform Sunday, June 23, at 3 p.m. at the Mariposa Museum & World Culture Center at 26 Main St. in Peterborough.

Tickets are $10 for Mariposa members and $20 for non-members. Tusukamoto will also offer an informal masterclass at 1 p.m. Sunday for players of all ability levels. Reservations for the class are required. Participation is $35. Scales, thumb placement, tunings, improvisation and more will be taught in the one-hour session designed to help players improve and expand their talents.

Tsukamoto will also demonstrate fingerstyle techniques, including chords and basic theory, breaking down elements such as tone and rhythm, explaining how to apply them to a practice routine. He will also answer questions.

Tsukamoto is a composer, guitarist and singer-songwriter from Kyoto, Japan. He began playing the five-string banjo when he was 13 and took up the guitar shortly after. He brings a blend of fingerstyle guitar and storytelling to his concerts, which have included performances at the Blue Note in New York City and the United Nations.
